ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

One of the main changes brought about by ISO 14001:2015 is the product lifecycle approach. This involves extending control and influence over the environmental impacts associated with the use of the product and the treatment/disposal of the product at the end of its life cycle.

OBJECTIVES 

At the end of this course to present the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard, the participants will be able to:

• Know what an environmental management standard is
• Know the terminology used by ISO 14001:2015
• Know the process-based approach and the fundamentals for continuous improvement of environmental performance
• Understand the requirements for an environmental management system
• Understand how the organization’s processes are analyzed from the point of view of environmental management and how to practically apply the requirements of the standard
• Understand the environmental management system in the context of integration with other management systems

• Terms and definitions (ISO 14001:2015)
• Presentation of environmental management approaches
• Presentation of requirements ISO 14001:2015
• Context of the organization (chapter 4): Identifying and influencing risks and opportunities, for the benefit of both the organization and the environment; Stakeholders’ needs and expectations and environmental conditions
• Leadership (Chapter 5): Specific responsibilities of people with leadership roles, to promote environmental management within the organization
• Planning (Chapter 6): Risk-based approach; Determination of environmental aspects; Environmental impact assessment
• Support (Chapter 7): Resources; Human Resources Management in terms of competence, awareness and communication; Documented information
• Operation (Chapter 8): Operational planning and control; Use of the product and treatment/disposal of the product at the end of its life cycle; Emergency planning and response capacity
